Runcorn Linnets 1 Witton Albion 3

Pre-Season Friendly Saturday 17 July 2010

On a day when Runcorn Linnets celebrated their return home after four seasons at Wincham Park, Witton recorded their first pre-season victory under the stewardship of Paul Ogden in front of an impressive crowd of 1,037.

It was the ideal start for the visitors after Dean Canning got on the end of a free kick which the home keeper completely misjudged, to open the scoring on six minutes.

The majority of the crowd celebrated the first goal in Runcorn colours at the Millbank Linnets Stadium on 37 minutes, after Michael Casey drove home to level the scores.

If the honours were even in the opening 45 minutes, it is fair to say that Witton controlled the second period, and substitute Chris Smith did well to restore his sides lead on 57 minutes, while Andy Kinsey drilled the ball home from a free kick 20 yards from goal with eleven minutes left to play.
